I wanted to share two enchantment calendars for 2005 with you. One is called: "Women Of Enchantment" by Kinukoy Craft at http://www.makefun.com and March (my birthday) has the Fairy Godmother on it. Click on calendars and then the "art and design" one.
Calendar number two is one that I have been getting for years and has opened worlds of enchantment to me that I couldn't begin to describe. I used it in healing my physical body with enchanting music on while I gazed at it. I awoke this Thanksgiving day to over ten inches of snow blanketing the lake, woods, and fields all around me with snow overnight! The sun just came out. Talk about enchantment! That's how Michigan is....one day it's 65 degrees and the next day you have snow over your boot line! I decided to get my outdoor hot tub fixed this fall and I am so glad I made that decision now. I watched the northern lights immersed in bubbles as I sipped a glass of wine a few weeks ago. After all...we have to keep our spirits up during these dark days of winter! I am learning how to continue to expand my own capacity for enchantment every day.
This month I have an enormous amount to be grateful for. I found out I am going to be a grandmother again! I love it....I learn so much about re~enchantment through my two grand daughters! I also began the first four week tele-class of the Midlife Fairy Godmother School of Re~Enchantment (tm)! What thrills and chills! It was so incredible witnessing the bond that all of us leading edge midlife women have so naturally. It was wonderful beyond words to connect with those of you who have taken the classes. And thank you to those of you who helped me put the material together.
There are Midlife Adventurer Club Members throughout the U.S., Australia, U.K., New Zeeland, Buenos Aires, and Canada
already. This winter I will be working at creating more classes with my brilliant personal coach and mentor and writing more articles in publications throughout the United States. "Dance as though no one is watching, love as though you've never been hurt before, sing as though no one can hear you, live as though heaven is on earth." Souza This quote speaks to the essence of what re-enchantment feels like to me. The journey we have to take to get to this fre* "state of being" is worth every step. My granddaughters are a big help to me. Re~enchantment dear women, is the gift of growing older as I see it. Early on in adolescence most of us loose ourselves in the world as we begin to focus on external standards for how we should be in the world. We accommodate ourselves, shrink ourselves, and loose our authenticity. We forget our true identity, our spontaneity, and our trust in ourselves.
Midlife is a rite of passage which is tailor made to reclaim all those characteristics, qualities, talents, strengths, confidence, power, and delights. Now we know nothing is worth loosing them. Now we can go on a search and rescue mission for them. We have wised up! It's time to claim that wisdom and choose to dwell in a magical universe!
With that wisdom, we can enter a whole new world....a world of enchantment where we're not afraid of looking stupid, of appearing foolish, of hiding our brilliance and exuberance for whatever delights us. Who cares if no one understands us anymore!! Just tell them you're in menopause (this one always works because menopause is one of those words that seems very mysterious to most people.) Use it to give yourself the freedom to be odd, quirky, spontaneous, ridiculous!
In April, Maya Angelou was interviewed by Oprah (on her show) for Dr. Angelou's 74th birthday. Oprah asked her what she thought of growing older. She responded by saying that it was exciting. In regards to body changes, she informed
Oprah that there were many occurring every day. She said her breast seemed to be in a race to see which will reach her waist first. The audience laughed so hard they cried.
Dr. Angelou also said: "I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. I've learned that you can tell a lot about a person by the way he/she handles these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and tangled Christmas tree lights.
I've learned that regardless of your relationship with your parents, you'll miss them when they are gone from your life. I've learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life. I've learned that life sometimes gives you a second chance. I've learned they you shouldn't go through life with a catcher's mitt on both hands; you need to be able to throw something back.
I've learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision. I've learned that even when I have pains, I don't have to be one. I've learned that every day you should reach out and touch someone. People love a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back. I've learned that I still have a lot to learn. I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
Dear enchanted, magical, midlife women, it is time to create our own standards of beauty apart from the ones men and Madison Avenue have created for us. Let's start connecting with the inner beauty through honoring our wisdom, power, and
courage. The world has never seen a midlife generation like the one that is entering the world right now!! Watch out world.....here we come!!top of page
