I have been enriched and assisted in magical ways with the development of  Midlife Fairy Godmother Enterprises (tm) through many synchronicities. Mark Silver, Sufi teacher and business magician http://heartofbusiness.com has given me hope through his example that I can indeed can find words for the inner process of becoming re-enchanted with life in midlife!!

Then there is Donna Henes (also known as the Urban Shaman and Midlife Queen) http://www.TheQueenOfMySelf.com who has supported me from the beginning and it feels good to be providing a space for her magical work.

There are so many more people which I will mention in future newsletters, but I need to mention Jennifer Louden (Comfort Queen ~ http://www.Comfortqueen.com) now because she has been an example of someone who shares her inner process of confusion and frustration along with the triumphs of her business with her readers.

I loved when she wrote: "When we create, we must be willing to be in the gap between what we want to create and what we are actually creating. We must be willing to be really imperfect and humble and lost and inchoate." This was so soothing to me and I thought it was perfect for the gap we find ourselves in during midlife as well ~ the gap between who we were and who we are becoming.

The weather has been crazy out here on Podunk! I had thunder, lightening, and an ice storm all in one night which knocked over many trees in this enchanted land last week! The trees hit the electric wires and I was without power for five days. Cooking on my wood stove and using the out house again reminded me of my early pioneering days here. Except now, I don't have little babies to take care of!

Instead I baby sat my outdoor hot tub wrapping it in sleeping bags and blankets because the temperature went down to zero! Time spent in candle light sorting papers, designing more tele-class material, and doing taxes made for an enchanting time even though the newsletter was put on hold.

I'm so glad to get this newsletter out even though the month is ending because "Awakening Love From Within" is the first step in the Inner Magic Process(tm) for re~enchantment in midlife and what more appropriate time than February to deliver the message.

Love is a latent power within us that once activated, will continue to attract more to itself.

 

Are you trying to find or create perfect love in your life? Pure, clear, true love exists at the soul level. Love is a state of being that has to be experienced within oneself before we can experience it in the outer world. Once again the outer mirrors the inner. It's one of those crazy making truths about how life works on earth. You'll have it when you don't NEED it anymore. So how do we do that? How do we give ourselves what we want from others?

 

We have to stop looking for the perfect person to love us and stop trying to change the people we are with so that they will make us feel loved and happy. We have to access our love from within ourselves. To create the relationship you want, we need to create the essence of the love we want, rather than focus on a specific form. I use the words "self generate."

 

 It is said that to experience enlightenment, you cannot sit around and wait for your soul to contact you and do all the work. Although it is always transmitting waves of love to you, you have to know how to recognize and receive it.The easiest way that I have done this is to experience the immense love that my soul has for me through guided inner journeys.

 

Get quiet and tune into your heart. Get an image of an extremely loving presence showering you with every positive feeling you have ever wanted to feel from someone else - respect, recognition, pride, acceptance, understanding, awe, wonder, and delight. Now let those feelings in. Allow any emotion that is there to be expressed. Allow yourself to be filled with the Divine elixir of love right down to the cells of your body. Allow, allow, allow yourself to experience it on all levels.

 

Now that you have the essence of what you have wanted from someone else, ask your soul to assist you while you carry the positive feelings you received in your heart while being with others. Have your intention be to experience love without needing others to change in order for you to receive it. State what you want as an essence quality of love, such as, "I want to experience more joy, harmony, and softness between us."

 

I did an experiment with this on Christmas eve. It was a new beginning for my family since my father died over six months ago. Since I am now the oldest member and matriarch of my family, I wanted to create a conscious, magical, meaningful new tradition. I created a blend of old and new traditions and designed an enchanted atmosphere in my home. We connected with the ancestors of our family and broke bread together.

 

The most important work of all was done on a soul level before anyone arrived. Now you have to know that my family is a very diverse bunch of highly spirited, opinionated, strong individuals. The potential for conflict is high. I accessed the love my soul has for me until I could feel it radiating out of me. It felt like a form of high spiritual play. I was singing and dancing all day as I basked in it while decorating my home and feeling my intention for joy, harmony, and softness between us.

 

In order for me to have this magical night, I had to be clear about my intentions - to create an atmosphere of magic, love, and new beginnings first within myself.  I also had to let go of a lot of things. I let go of getting into heated discussions so that I could prove I was right. I let go of needing others to change in any way so that I could be happy and come to peace with how each person expresses themselves, their beliefs, political affiliations, judgments etc. I had to drop expectations and my own judgments. I had to use the contrast of the past to come to some very clear decisions about what was REALLY important.

 

The result was that there was laughter, heart felt exchanges, and lots of fun all evening. When we choose love over lesser satisfactions and make the effort to shift within, we become magnetic and life responds. I will have no way of knowing how much of an influence I was. The important point is that I didn't need anyone to be different in any way for me to have the best Christmas eve I can ever remember because I had learned to fill my own cup without waiting for someone else to fill it.
